The Rosetown RCMP have released a statement about the reports of several fraudulent phone calls allegedly from the RCMP.

“The Rosetown RCMP have received a number of calls for service in regards phone calls allegedly from the RCMP. In the calls, a recorded message is played that states there is an emergency that they need to speak about, and to press a number to speak with a member. We’ve been told that the message plays in English, French, and Chinese.

We can confirm that these calls are from fraudsters pretending to be the RCMP. Our members do not use pre-recorded messages when trying to contact people, our members are able to give our first and last names, and we will always identify which detachment we are calling from.

Please use your judgement with messages such as these, as the fraudsters will try to get personal information from you, and potentially money. If you’re not sure if a message you’ve received is from a real police officer, you can call the Rosetown Detachment at 306-882-5700, or our Regina dispatch centre at 306-310-RCMP. Thank you.”
