Swine flu has claimed its first victim in Saskatchewan.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that a woman in her 40s with the H1N1 flu died over the weekend. She also had a serious underlying health condition.

Nationally, there have been 21 deaths from H1N1 in four provinces since the outbreak began.

Saskatchewan has recorded 740 cases of the strain, and Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Moira McKinnon said most of the cases have been mild to moderate, although a few cases required hospitalization.
