It's a once in a lifetime experience to be able to represent your province on the national stage in any sport, and Jordyn Mann was given the chance to do so at the Baseball Canada 16U Girls Invitational Championships this past weekend.

Mann and Team Saskatchewan made the trip to Vaughn, Ontario for the games. Vaughan is only 40 minutes away from Toronto and has hosted nationals at different age groups for the past several years.

Mann was the team's number one catcher and played the position for mostly the entire tournament. She was one of the older players on the team, and helped be a leader on the field for some of the younger players competing on a national stage for the first time.

Team Saskatchewan faced some skilled teams in the round robin portion with games against Manitoba, British Columbia, Quebec and the Host team. Saskatchewan finished in fourth place in their pool with one victory and three loses to clinch a spot for the 7th place game against Prince Edward Island.

Team Saskatchewan took care of Team P.E.I. 15-5 to finish their tournament in seventh place.

Mann was also known for her bats throughout the tournament, and made pitchers work deep into counts while she had a great eye at the plate. She finished with 3 total hits and two walks to reach base throughout the tournament which helped out her team in key situations.

We spoke with Jordyn after the tournament was over to hear what she took out of the experience at Nationals, and what she will be striving for in the 2018 baseball season.

"They are trying to get together a U-21 team for next year, so I plan to try out for that team. It was cool to meet players from the other teams outside of the games, and get to know where they come from."

Mann helped Team Saskatchewan finish with a record of two wins and three losses at this year's tournament and is already looking forward at what next year's season has in store.
