The August long weekend has officially begun and many people around West Central Saskatchewan are taking to the highways to go to lakes or other vacation destinations.

Corporal Heather Wale with the Kindersley RCMP warns drivers that there will be a lot of people on the road. People tend to drive more recklessly on long weekends because they are rushing to get out of town.

The RCMP will be out in increased numbers this long weekend in anticipation of heavier traffic and unresponsible driving.

If you plan on staying in town for the long weekend, please be respectfull of other town residents by keeping the noise level to a minimum and by finding a safe ride home if you've been drinking.
