Playgrounds and beaches are opening up throughout the province Friday. New reopening guidelines were announced earlier this week, and kids and adults can head to public parks and beaches starting today.

In the guidelines, it states those who are showing signs of illness should not enter a park or playground.

While at the playground, those who aren’t from the same household or extended household should maintain two metres of physical distancings. As well, there should be limits on gathering with other people when leaving or entering the playground area, and when supervising children playing in the playground.

Additionally, group sizes must comply with the current public gathering restrictions, which is 30 people when outdoors.

It is encouraged to frequently clean hands while playing. This can be done with warm water and soap, or hand sanitizer. To also help prevent the spread of COVID-19, do not share toys or sports equipment.

Signage will be posted in re-opened parks and playgrounds, cautioning of the risks of COVID-19. The signs will include reminders about staying home when sick, maintaining physical distancing of two metres, avoid overcrowding and to wash hands before and after park usage.

The news of playgrounds and beaches being re-opened is just a tease of phase 4. Last week Premier Scott Moe promised that details and dates for the yet To-Be-Determined Phase 4 would be made available soon. The 2 steps of phase 4 include outdoor pools, rinks, movie theaters, casinos, and libraries.
