MLA for Rosetown-Elrose Jim Reiter was on hand for the grand opening of AGT Soileos on Wednesday, a new sustainable fertilizer production operation beginning work inside his constituency.

During his remarks to the crowd Reiter shared that Premier Scott Moe was unable to be in attendance due to the special session of legislature, but as the Minister of Energy and Resources, Reiter was more than happy to be there in his place.

The local impacts are clear when it comes to bringing in jobs and people in general to Rosetown. Reiter talked about the new facility on a provincial scale.

"Direct jobs are an important part of it," said Reiter, "There is more to it than that. It's going to help the agriculture sector overall, in this area and others around the province."

Not only will the new facility and planned expansions create plant jobs, but the 'spin-off' as Reiter referred to will help create jobs down the line when it comes to trucking and other key components of the trade.

Reiter continued talking about the potential benefits.

"I think it provides another market for farmers for some of their products. It's going to help with that, on what otherwise would partially become a waste product. It's going to create a new fertilizer option for farmers."

Delving deeper into sustainability on the farm has them excited for what's to come.

"Heard the owners talk about it, they feel like this is a pilot project. It's going to be significant in its own right, but the possibility for huge expansion is coming as well."

Reiter sees the October grand-opening as a win-win-win across the agriculture sector into the future.
