Main Street in Kindersley has been busier than usual over the last couple weeks due to some work on the street corners. But, it looks as if the busyness will soon be over as the work is near completion.

New LED street lights and signals are being installed on four intersections along Main Street with the project running for over a month now. The posts are being placed at the intersections between 1st Avenue and 5th Avenue with davit arms extending to the street in order to allow better visiblity for drivers.

One of the main reasons council and administration moved to install the new lights was due to outdated technology on the previous traffic lights. According to administration, staff found it difficult to locate the parts necessary to maintain and repair the systems.

In addition, crews will be working on curb and concrete repair over the coming weeks after workers found the base for the new posts were larger than the previous infrastructure. Curb extensions are proposed to provide extra space around the lights and assist with parking issues. RGM Contracting was hired by the town to work on the project in cooperation with SaskPower.
