The U18 AA West Central Wheat Kings win streak continued in the SAAHL playoffs over the weekend, as the team has punched their ticket to the league final series. After winning game one in Saskatoon against the Icehawks on March 20, the team got off to a quick start in Unity on Saturday. Kayden Cey, Colbey Frocklage, and Landyn Nash scored in the first period to give the Wheat Kings a three goal lead after one.

West Central kept coming in the second period, as Ben Walz and Spencer Krieger lit the lamp to make the score 5-0 after two.

The shutout bid was axed early in the third period on a goal by Tyrus Flory for the Icehawks, but the Wheat Kings answered back on a goal by Austin Burton, to cruise to the 6-1 victory. Frocklage had a goal and two assists, and Walz had a goal and an assist, to lead the West Central attack.

Game three was back in Saskatoon last night, and West Central had to play comeback in this one. After falling behind 3-0 after one, Leighton Partington scored for the Wheat Kings on the powerplay to cut into the lead. Spencer Krieger then scored less than a minute later to get West Central to within one, and before the period was out, Ben Walz tied it. There was no scoring in the third period, and the teams headed to overtime.

In the extra session, Spencer Krieger got the game winner, which can be viewed below, and the Wheat Kings took home the Centre Four Division banner, and will play the winner of the Regina Vics and Estevan Apex Bruins in the final series.
