Kindersley resident Rick Miller talked to West Central Online about his experience with prostate cancer.

Miller was quick to mention remission continues despite him being diagnosed cancer free.

Miller was adamant to go get checked.

"That's something that should never happen with the technology today it's a must, and it's the most important thing you can do," Miller said.

Mr. Miller added, a positive attitude is the most important thing to have when you hear the diagnosis.

"That's exactly it (having a positive attitude), it's not going to beat you, Miller said, it's just something that's happened in your life, you have to deal with, and make the feeling go away," Mr. Miller said.

Miller added, he got his latest test results back, and is happy to say it is undetectable.

Miller also urged males 50 or older to get tested.

"They have come a long way in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. It is so good now, just get checked, it's simple, don't leave it, and just get checked," he reiterated.

An important factor in early diagnosis is the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) Test. The PSA is a blood test to determine if their are high numbers of PSAs, which can be a sign of Prostate Cancer. Men aged 50 years or older are at a higher risk, as are men with a family history of prostate cancer.
