West Central Abilities has been providing services to those with disabilites in Kindersley and surrounding communities for over 45 years, but not without the help of donations to help fund projects and programs.

The centre facilitates multiple projects including 3 group homes, day programs and a supportive independant living program, all assisting people with disabilites of varying degrees to sometimes complete basic home upkeep to providing social support, friendship and a place to call home.

Currently West Central Abiliites (WCA) has 22 clients, many of which live off government assistance and a fixed income, allowing them to cover life's necessities but many extra cirricular activities can be out of reach.

Through fundraisers, such as BBQ's and art events, the money raised is put into different projects and development but also finances their client trip fund. The fund allows clients to have a set amount of money each year that they are able to use for a trip or a concert or anything of their liking that otherwise wouldn't be possible without the fund.

Regan Overhand is the program administrator at WCA said they also use a portion of the funds raised to put towards a new program building that is being built from the ground up to replace the current location in the industrial area. Overhand said the new building will, "allow clients to feel more a part of the community, and will also provide a safer enviroment so they can walk downtown to go get a coffee or go check the mail."

The new building location will not only run day programs but will also facilitate other workshops such as cooking nights that are put on by WCA and it is not only for clients, but open to everyone in the community.

Overhand emphasized that monetary donations are not the only way people can help out, she said they are always looking for volunteers as well and anyone intersted is welcome to call their office.

WCA will be taking part in Goose Festival and will be hosting a BBQ starting at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday downtown and on Saturday will be doing a pulled pork fundraising event as well.
