It couldn't have been a nice weekend weatherwise for the final races of the season for Flatlanders Speedway. Cars, trucks and even lawn mowers rumbled down the track Saturday and Sunday, giving the hundreds of fans lots to cheer for.

Jason Hankewich with Flatlanders was very happy with how things went down on the weekend.

“The weekend went amazing. We had a great turn out, and an awesome crowd. We had 500 and some adults there on Saturday. I don't know how many kids, there were kids everywhere, as kids got in free. We had cars from all over the place, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta. It was a great turnout. We had the PDRA touring series that came through with the Hobbies, the Streets and the Mods. And then we had the Legends Touring series come out from Alberta. Great turn out there, I think we had 67 total cars. Plus, we also have the lawn mower stuff show up. There were six or seven of those. It was a great total turnout on the weekend, and we had great weather, everything worked out awesome. People were super happy about it.”

As for the mower races, they were so popular, Hankewich said they anticipate bringing them back next year on a full-time basis.

Hankewich also wanted to give a shoutout to those who made the weekend a success.

“I would like to give a shoutout to Lori Robbie for being the main sponsor for the invitational, and Lurch's Winchin for sponsoring trophies.”
